Murray State men’s basketball has added its fourth recruit in the Class of 2022, when Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School star Braxton Stacker verbally committed to the program on October 10.
Now listed as a 6-foot-5 and 190-pound hybrid guard/forward, Stacker spent two seasons with the Belleville East Lancers before transferring to just outside of St. Louis this past year.
Considered a 3-star talent by rivals.com, Stacker had offers from Arkansas-Pine Bluff (July 15), Boston University (August 12), SIU Edwardsville (September 15), Indiana State (September 24) and Illinois State (October 1) before choosing the Racers, who officially offered him on August 12.

It would’ve been easy for Murray State men’s basketball and its recruiting efforts to lose track of 6-10 forward and Class of 2022 prospect Corneilous Williams.
According to Drew Kerekes, sports reporter for the Meridian Star, the former Oak Grove High School star in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, transferred to Moravian Prep in Hickory, North Carolina — before transferring back to Clarkdale High School in Meridian, Mississippi in search of a “traditional high school graduation.”
When the Mississippi High School Athletic Association didn’t grant his transfer eligibility, Williams proved himself as a more-than-proficient practice player until his May graduation — where he and his family took talents to Combine Academy, a preparatory school in Lincolnton, North Carolina.
All along, the Racers were there — particularly after offering him on June 17, 2020 — following his AAU and grassroots career.
On Monday, Williams rewarded that persistence with a verbal commitment to the program — the third such addition for Murray State in as many weeks, joining 6-foot-5 Memphis wing Justin Morgan and 6-foot-6 Indianapolis forward Jaxon Edwards.

Paducah Tilghman will take on Mayfield this Friday at McRight Field, continuing one of Kentucky’s longest-running high school football series. The schools have long pedigrees of success, with multiple state titles and have met every year since 1921 in a powerhouse series that began in 1911. Or 1912. Or 1904.

The annual release of the WPSD Local 6 Top 10 leading up to Gridiron Glory isn’t just a delightful treat. It also creates a plethora of talking points about the area’s top football players each year. And this year’s guys are hard to argue. Everyone knows them. They’re household names, in which opposing locker rooms circle on the markerboard and make note.
But there are several guys who are right on the cusp of being on everyone’s mind each Friday. (of course, in no particular order)
Brajone Dabney, Sophomore, Mayfield
There’s no question Joe Morris and the Cardinals have something special in store for Dabney, and it’s going to be extremely interesting to see where he lines up in 2021. As a freshman, he was one of only nine players last season to play in all nine games for the Cardinals, suiting up a little bit at quarterback and defensive back. He’s got another gear, and where it’s going to be shifted this season could be neat.
Malachi Rider, Sophomore, Paducah Tilghman
The Blue Tornado are absolutely loaded for the 2021 campaign, particularly behind the return of super-seniors Cam Marshall and Brian Thomas. And there are so many names worth mentioning here for PT (hello, Uriah Virzi, Darionte Ragsdale and LeBran McMullen). But Malachi Rider led Paducah Tilghman in rushing as a freshman in 2020 — finishing with 775 yards and nine rushing touchdowns in eight games. If he follows that trajectory and stays as Paducah Tilghman’s top running back for the rest of his career, a 3,000-yard, 40-touchdown resume isn’t out of the question. He’d be leaving the halls of Tilghman as one of the best to ever do it, and he’s capable of another 775/9 this season as a rolling ball of knives.
Kendric Adams, Senior, Trigg County
Adams might finish with 1,000 all-purpose yards this year for the Wildcats, who need an offensive threat to flip the field. He notched more than 800 all-purpose last season, including nearly 200 yards receiving out of the backfield. He also led the Wildcats in total tackles (75), as one of the better two-way threats in the First District.
Mason Grant, Senior, Graves County
Just like his big brother, Mason Grant has only gotten better each year. In 2020, he finished with more than 700 yards receiving on 37 catches, and that was alongside Race Richards. Now in 2021, Grant’s the guy, and one should consider his real possibility at snagging 1,000 yards receiving by the simple fact that his running back, Clint McKee, is going to require some special attention off the edges — which should allow Grant to roam less impeded.
